Line Editing

Line editing is a precise, in-depth form of text correction as it examines word choice, flow, consistency, and sentence structure. This is the polish. I’ll be taking the magnifying glass to the text.

Copyediting

Copyediting is the mechanical step but done so in a way that maintains the writer’s voice and meaning. Copyediting looks for the 5 C’s: Clear, Correct, Concise, Consistent, & Comprehensible.

Proofreading

Proofreading looks to catch typos, formatting inconsistencies, grammar, and spelling. Proofreading is the final step in the editing process.
